Simple Early Finisher Activities for K-2 Classrooms

Early Finisher Activities for Kindergarten

What do you have your fast workers do when they finish super early??

Do you feel like you have to prep some insanely challenging and engaging task and change them out week after week?? Or maybe you feel compelled to create extra digital activities for virtual learners that you'd have to pause your instruction for to explain to those early finishers.

Guess what.. you don't have to do either of those things.

And you definitely don't have to make more work for yourself. I'm about to make your life a whole lot simpler! I can practically feel the weight coming off of your shoulders myself and that makes me oh so happy. So let's get to it:

Simple Early Finisher Activities

 Rainbow Writing

There are endless possibilities for skills students can practice when rainbow writing! Here are just a few...

  • sight words
  • letters
  • numbers
  • word families
  • shapes

Use Play Dough

Again, students can practice building letters, words, and numbers. They can create shapes, or even create sets to count or compare. And the best part... no prep for you! Have them grab a tub of play dough and GO!

Word or Letter Hunt

Ok this one is super simple. You literally just need ANYTHING with words on it. Students go on a hunt looking for sight words you've been learning or just letters!

I hope this quick post got you thinking about a few things you can add to your early finisher activities list. But more importantly, I hope it helped you see that what students do when they finish early does not have to be complicated! In fact, it can be low (or no) prep, and you can keep them the same week after week!
