End of Year Series: Setting Yourself Up for Success the First Week Back
LISTEN TO THE EPISODE TO HEAR EXACTLY WHAT TO PREP AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR:
This is the fourth and final episode in our End of Year Teacher Series and in my opinion, we saved the best for last! This episode is all about what to prep at the end of the school year to help yourself get ahead before busy back to school season hits.
If you’ve been teaching for a few years, you already know that your first weeks back are going to be filled with meetings and extra tasks. This inevitably means less time in your classroom than you hoped for. What I DON’T want this to mean for you, is stressing to get your classroom set up, lesson plans written, back to school forms printed, and all that good stuff.
This is exactly why it is well worth it to get just a few things prepped ahead of time before you leave for summer break.
Here are 5 things to prep at the end of the school year:
- Back to School Forms and Letters
- General First Week Plans (Overview)
- First Week Copies
- Back to School Read Alouds
- Your Routines
WHAT’S COVERED IN THIS EPISODE:
- Why you should be doing some back to school prep now
- What to include in your first week lesson plan overview (don’t worry – it’s super simple!)
- How to make sure those Back to School forms don’t get lost
- What to do with those back to school read alouds
- Reflection questions to get you hashing out classroom routines now
